Descriptions of all the workshops, seminars and one-day classes are now available on the conference website.  Information about the conference’s world-class instructors is also available on the website.

The 2013 conference theme is "Crossing Borders, Crossing Threads." It is an appropriate theme for a weaving conference at Western Washington University, so near the Canadian border in Bellingham.  It is a theme that honors the influences of the many cultures whose people have crossed borders and brought their weaving and textile traditions with them. The theme also celebrates the influences of woven borders and traditional cultures on design and color in our modern world.

Those interested in receiving conference updates should visit the website and sign up for the conference newsletter.

ANWG Rep Corner...
It is time each ANWG member guild and marketplace vendors to begin thinking about what they would like to include in the 2013 ANWG NW Weavers Conference Goodie Bags. We have a form and time schedule for each guild to follow. We would like each participating guild to provide 400 items. Label each item with the guild name or vendor. Items must be received by April 20, 2013.  If your organization cannot provide 400 items, please provide what you can and we will try to distribute them fairly.

You may download a copy of the submission form here:
Goodie Bag Item Submission Form and read more about Goodie Bag Item Submission on our webpage
.

ANWG Guilds: Time To Start Planning Your Booth!

Yes, the conference is more than a year away.  But a lot of planning, weaving, dyeing, spinning, sewing, felting and more has to happen before booth set-up day!

The conference theme for 2013 is Crossing Borders, Crossing Threads.  This theme speaks to the ties that bind us together as weavers from both the United States and Canada.  Let this theme of global community be a starting point for your imaginations to “follow the thread” to what binds your guild together and what connects it to all ANWG guilds throughout the northwest and to weavers throughout the world and across time.

As always, booth space is free for each ANWG Guild; this year the booth size will be 8 X 10 with full length side walls. The deadline to reserve your Guild's Booth is November 15, 2012. Sign-up forms will be available on our website mid July. The Guild Booths will share the WWU Gym (Carver Gymnasium) with all the fiber and weaving marketplace vendors, so there will be a lot of excitement going on under that roof.  Because our space is limited, we will only be able to provide space for 20 booths.  Sign-up will be on a first come, first serve basis.  We will publish the link to the sign-up form in a future newsletter.

On our website you will find a
webpage all about booths.  It will be updated as more information becomes available.  But to help get those creative juices flowing we have included a slide show of guild booths from the 2009 conference held in Spokane.  The theme for the 2009 conference was Weaving Waves of Color and the photo above is from the 2009 conference booth displays.Often a guild will come up with a terrific theme for their booth but are unsure how to effectively display the items they have made.  To help you with ideas on how to set up and display the items created, we did a quick search on Pinterest and found some interesting boards.  If you are unfamilar with Pinterest, beware its quite a fun rabbit hole to fall into.  Pinterest is a pinboard-style social photo sharing website that allows users to create and manage theme-based image collections.  So check out these Pinterest Boards:  Booths  and Displays.  Or do your own search on Pinterest.

The conference colors, shown on the right, can be found the
colors webpage on our website.  There are many shades of these colors in our logo, but each of the shades starts from one of the colors on the right.
Contacting Us With Questions...

We are using many social media tools this year to help keep you informed about our conference plans and to be able to quickly answer questions.  On
Facebook we have the 2013 ANWG NW Weavers Conference page,  You can use this page to ask questions and to share conference information with all your friends.

On
Twitter, you can follow us and retweet conference information to all of your followers -- helping us spread the word about our conference! In case you belong to Ravelry, we have a Ravelry Forum.  This forum is an easy way for you and your guild members to ask questions and get answers about the conference.  Also please encourage your guild members to use all our social media tools listed above!  We are looking forward to hearing from you!

Conference Colors...

Visit our Conference Colors webpage!  The Pantone Fashion Colors along with their various shades which were used in our conference logo are shown above.  You can find the UKI yarns shades for these colors on our webpage.  We have asked other yarn vendors to provide the same color shade information and will be added as it becomes available.

To help you spread the word about the conference, we have created a Press Release page on our website.  On this webpage you will be able to download PDF press releases to share with your guild newsletter editor or to send directly to your newsletter.  If you have other ideas about how we can help you publicize the conference, just email us at publicity@anwg-conference-2013.
